Citas Brass Joe

This is one of my favourite subjects.  That is one of my favourite pictures also.  That is me and my horsie, Joey.  It was taken Nov of '01.  It was done professionally by Don Schimmel. He is one of my most favourite photographers.  I love his work and have a bunch of it.  Here are more that he took of me and Joey, enjoy.

Joey is a registered Quarter Horse Paint.  He is 8 years old, was born on April 11, 1995.  I met him April 6th, 2000.  I had been looking for a horse since Jan of 2000, and I really wanted a Tobiano Paint, but was also looking at Arabs and Quarter Horses.  I had looked at a few horses with no such luck.  I saw an add on Yahoo classifieds it was a lady selling her 5 yr old b/w tobiano paint.  I thought "okay, I've seen these ads before and they always turn out to be an ugly looking tovero or overo paint." So I sent her an email and asked to see a picture of him.  I had responded a few hours after it posted.  She sent me his picture along with her number and said if I was interested then to give her a call and we could set up a time to meet.  Here is the picture she sent me:

Beautiful picture isnt it? I called her as soon as I got the email and told her I wanted to meet him.  She said she had someone coming out that Saturday to look at him and I said I'd be there Thursday.  I showed up and fell in love at first sight.  I didn't even need to ride him (yeah as a side note, any and EVERY horse person will tell you NEVER buy a horse on a whim/hunch/feeling anything!!! but...what did I do? go against it!!) But of course I did.  I rode him down the road and as we were coming back I accidentally tapped him, they failed to tell me that he likes to take off if you tap him on the sides...sooo I went for a real ride, we FLEW down the road.  It was great and when they asked me if I was okay I said "yup, he's mine, can I write you a check now?" The rest, as they say, is History.

Right now me and Joey are learning Dressage.  We haven't gone very far in it yet because we just started last Aug.  Joey kept getting hurt or doing different things to keep us from going to our lessons.  A lot of the time he kept loosing shoes, now he's got a sore back.  Will he EVER stop?!?
